Cruising routes

The boat yard is situated on the North Oxford Canal, on the edge of Rugby town. The canal runs in a line roughly north south, but has many bends as it follows the contour of the land.

Going north is a very pleasant lock free route taking about 2.5 hours each way to Brinklow Arm just by a wooded picnic area called All Oaks wood, where the boat can be moored for a meal. On the return journey passing through the village of Newbold there are two public houses serving food. Stops can be made here in the longer summer evenings.

The route south is a short but pleasant cruise to the bottom of the set of three locks at Hillmorton. There is a small Bistro a short walk from the bottom of the locks. Ideal for a half day cruise.

Please note the boat is not licenced to go through the locks.
